Bay-O-Vista Improvement Association Town Hall Meetings

BOVIA Town Hall Meetings of the association membership are held twice annually, in the spring (April) and in the fall (October) at the San Leandro Main Library.  The meetings are intended as a forum for discussion of issues facing our community, resident concerns, BOVIA strategic goals and presentations by guest speakers.

2014 Fall Town Hall Meeting

When:  22 October 2014
Where:  San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Avenue
Time:  The meeting began at 7:00PM.

Guest Speaker:  Jenny Linton, President OSIsoft, a local San Leandro tech company.  Jenny Kennedy Linton is OSIsoft's President. She is responsible for operations as well as overseeing the management team of OSIsoft. Her strategic focus is to support the broader adoption and global growth of OSIsoft, building upon an installed base in more than 110 countries.

Jenny joined the company full time in 2001 and since then has worked in finance, recruiting, executive administration, management, and operations. She earned a BS degree in Environmental Toxicology and an MS degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, both from the University of California at Davis.

Jenny presented her compan's history and future plans.

2014 Spring Town Hall Meeting

Guest Speaker:  Sandra R. Spagnoli, Chief of Police

Sandra Spagnoli was appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of San Leandro in 2011. As Police Chief, she has been successful in implementing contemporary public safety initiatives, reducing crime, improving employee morale, incorporating grant funding to start new programs and utilizing technology to enhance the delivery of police services.

 She has led effective organizational reform and community outreach that has increased public confidence and trust, including developing the following programs: Coffee with the Cops, Chiefs Advisory Board, The Teen Academy and creating a Community Outreach/Relations Unit. Under her leadership, San Leandro Police Department has increased their social media presence on Facebook, Nixle, Twitter, Tip411 and You-Tube.

 Chief Spagnoli holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Management. She attended the FBI Academy, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS), WestPoint Leadership Academy at LAPD, Executive Leaders Program (ELP) at the Naval Postgraduate School/Center for Homeland Security and Defense and POST Command College. Since 2000, she has instructed at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Leadership Academy.
